1- Giới thiệu chung về trường:

Prince George’s Community College là sự lựa chọn hàng đầu của các cư dân Prince George’s County về chương trình giáo dục bậc đại học và đào tạo nhân công hang đầu tại đây.

Trường được thành lập năm 1958, hiện nay đã thu hút 50% cư dân tại hạt này theo học chương trình trung học.

Trường có diện tích khoảng 60 ha, tọa lạc tại LargoPrince George’s County (hạt đông dân thứ 2 của bang Maryland, có hàng trăm nhà thờ tại đây), bang Maryland, và chỉ cách Washington, D.C khoảng 8 dặm.

Mỗi năm trường tuyển khoảng 44.000 sinh viên (Noncredit students: 23,282; Credit students: 21,028) tới từ trong hạt, các vùng lân cận và từ 103 quốc gia trên khắp thế giới.

Các lớp học được duy trì khoảng 18 sinh viên mỗi lớp nên tạo môi trường học tập rất tốt.

Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)

The college was recently named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Two-year Education 2010–2015 by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

College meeting rooms and recreational facilities are also available for use by the public. These facilities include the Robert I. Bickford Natatorium, which is open to individuals and groups. More than 1,000 events sponsored by community organizations are held at the college each year.

Better Together Interfaith Team – To promote interfaith cooperation and action among students of different religious and non-religious values.

Biology Club – To provide interactive study and review for students who are taking biology courses

CAB (Campus Activities Board) – To develop, plan, coordinate and implement co-curricular programs for the college.

Caribbean Student Association – To create a cultural and social awareness of the Caribbean community on campus.

Chemistry Club- To aid students who have difficulty with chemistry and provide more opportunities for chemistry majors

Enrollment Services Student Ambassadors-Serves as the official ambassadors of the college for prospective students and the surrounding community.

Envision Models- To provide students with entertainment through the performance of modeling, theatrics, and dancing.

Fire-N-Motion Dance Team– To provide an outlet for female students to dance and express creativity while modeling a positive self-image.

Gospel Choir – To allow students to express themselves vocally through gospel music while enlightening their peers.

Green N’ Fit Club– To promote the awareness and practice of healthy, environmentally-friendly choices both on and off campus

Gospel Choir (Voices of Triumph)- To provide students with the chance to praise the word of the Lord through gospel songs.

Health Club – To educate students on the importance of living healthier and to help them adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Health Information Management Student Association- To provide opportunities for meaningful interactions among students and to foster professional development
Honors Society – To promote academic excellence, fellowship, leadership and service through co-curricular activities.

Kaleidoscope Club – To promote global friendship and understanding of different cultures.

Math Club – To promote further interest in mathematics and help students understand math as a language of logic.

Muslim Student Association – To clarify the meaning of the word Muslim and to bring the Muslims at the college together.

Nursing Club– To provide nursing majors with information and community service in the field of nursing.

The Owl Student Newspaper – To provide an outlet for student expression & reports activities of interest to students as the official newspaper of PGCC.

Owl Tennis Club- To establish an atmosphere of learning for experienced and beginning tennis players.

Otagen Anime Club – To educate and entertain people of the Anime Japanese pop culture.

Pathways to Leadership Program – To promote the development of leadership skills through workshops, conferences, retreats & community service.

PGCC Chapter National Society of Black Engineers-To help students interested in helping STEM majors by providing networking opportunities.

PGCC Hacker Space- To provide students with an open environment to become creative within the fields of technology, science, mathematics, and art

Phi Theta Kappa – To promote scholarship, service and leadership for students. Rewards and recognizes academically outstanding students.

Pre-Health Professionals Club– To promote the multiple careers and elements in the field of healthcare and providing a resource for students interested in healthcare.

Reflections Literary Magazine – To provide a medium to showcase student short stories, artwork and photography.

Salvation & Praise-To assist students in adjusting to school life on campus and to bring the academic lives of students under the lordship of Christ.

Service Members to Scholars (S2S) Veterans Club-To provide a welcoming environment that assists veterans in transitioning and adapting to college life.

Student Art League – To learn and support students in the field of Art.

Student Governance Association – To represent the ideas and concerns of the student body to the college community.

Student Media Group – To provide students with media training, networking opportunities and hands-on experience in media.

Secular Student Alliance – To promote the ideals of scientific and critical inquiry, democracy, secularism, and human-based ethics..

5- Các thành tích của trường (Institutional Successes):

Named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Security Two-year Education by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for 2010-2015.

   Opened the first middle college in the state of Maryland, in partnership with the Prince George’s County Public Schools – The Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College.

Recognized as a White House as a Champion of Change, Prince George’s is the only community college in the group.

Opened the Westphalia Training Center in Upper Marlboro to educate and train workers for in-demand jobs.

Celebrated the University Town Center’s (UTC) decade of service to the community.

   Commemorated Laurel College Center’s 10 year anniversary. LCC is a Regional Higher Education Center and a partnership with Howard Community College.

Increased enrollments in workforce development and continuing education more than 25 percent over the last five years.

Served approximately 5,000 students each year through the college’s Seasoned Adults Growing through Education or SAGE, which is the WDCE’s largest program and the largest community college-based senior focused program in the state of Maryland.
